Wycliffe Oparanya Threatens to Quit CS Post if The Government Fails to Implement His Ideas: “Nitajiondoa”
Co-operatives and SMEs Cabinet Secretary Wycliffe Oparanya has threatened to quit the Kenya Kwanza administration if ignored.
Speaking at Mariakani Church of God South B on Sunday, August 11, Oparanya said President William Ruto picked him because of his track record.
The former Kakamega governor said he had accepted to help the Kenya Kwanza administration serve Kenyans. However, Oparanya warned he would bolt out of the government if the Kenya Kwanza administration failed to implement his ideas.
“The people who hail from Kakamega know the work I did, so they have seen that this old man can help us with work. I will help them, but if they ignore my advice, I will quit the job,” Oparanya said.
Oparanya is among five ODM party officials recently named to the broad-based Cabinet by Ruto.
The former Kakamega governor had in the past vowed never to work for the Kenya Kwanza government.
Elsewhere, it emerged that Oparanya’s nomination to the Cabinet almost got nullified by a section of the National Assembly’s Committee on Appointments.
Daily Nation established that after hours of grilling by the committee, the Kenya Kwanza side recommended the rejection of Oparanya’s nomination on account of his woes with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
The anti-graft body had written to the National Assembly seeking to obstruct Oparanya’s vetting over his active cases of graft.
Suna East MP Junet Mohamed, who was part of the vetting team, threatened that ODM would decline to take the other Cabinet slots if Oparanya’s nomination was struck out.
