DP Gachagua Assures Lamu Residents Of Security
Speaking on Thursday when he attended the burial of Lamu Deputy Governor Raphael Munyua in Mpeketoni, Gachagua said the government would back down on the measures it has implemented.
He said that the government has also deployed more security personnel in the county to ensure Lamu residents live peacefully and without fear.
The Deputy President insisted that, together with President William Ruto, they remain committed to securing the country.
“I want to assure the people of Lamu that we have prioritized security issues and will not back down. That is why we have deployed more security officers here to ensure the security of the people of Lamu and live without fear.
“The President and I and the rest of the people in government are committed to ensuring there is security for everyone so that everybody can do their job,” Gachagua said.
His remarks were in response to nominated Senator Shakila Abdallah, who requested that sniffer dogs be removed from roadblocks in the county.
The Senator insisted that security in the region has significantly improved.
“Please remove them, we don’t want them on roadblocks. We as Muslims request that you respect our religion, remove the dogs, and conduct the search in any other way, but we don’t want dogs,” Shakila said.
Some of the measures the state has employed to tackle insecurity, especially in terror—and bandit-prone areas, include revamping security equipment and acquiring new and improved ones.
