IG Kanja Hosts UN Chief Of Security Prince Bruce
The meeting was held at the National Police Service (NPS) headquarters at Jogoo House, Nairobi.
NPS in a statement through X said the two discussed issues on security of the UN premises and personnel in Kenya.
“Bruce expressed his gratitude to NPS for supporting the UN in Kenya through the Diplomatic Police Unit,” NPS said.
DPU is a specialized unit under the Kenya Police Service, tasked with protecting diplomatic entities and providing security for high-profile individuals.
Bruce also highlighted the collaborative relationship between the NPS and the UN.
Kanja appreciated the remarkable partnership between the UN and the NPS over the years highlighting the recent extension of the Kenyan-led MSS mission in Haiti for one year up until October 2025.
“NPS has a longstanding record as a peacekeeping and troop-contributing country in UN Peacekeeping Missions in several countries,” it said.
These include South Sudan, Somalia, Namibia, East Timor, Yugoslavia, Iraq-Iran, Kosova, Sierra Leone, Croatia Cambodia, Liberia, and Sudan among others.
The IG reaffirmed the NPS’s commitment to the ongoing collaboration with the UN on safety and security matters.
