Ruto Admits Why He Has A Gym Session Every Week
President William Ruto has explained why he has a gym session every week.
Speaking when he addressed participants at the President’s Award at State House Nairobi, Ruto said it was the reason he arrived at the event late.
He went on to say that going to the gym is something he does every week.
The President said it is because it helps shape one’s mind and keeps one alert.
“I came in a bit late because I had a session at the gym. It is one of the things I do every week because it helps shape your mind, keep you alert,” Ruto said.
This is the first time the President has gone public with the gym as part of his weekly routine.
A few months after he was announced President in 2022, Ruto appeared to have had a sudden weight loss.
As Kenyans questioned what was going on with him, Ruto would later explain that the pressure that came with campaigns forced him to have irregular eating schedules, sometimes finding himself over-eating or eating at odd hours.
He said this was his routine for almost two years and this saw him gain a lot of weight in the process.
“I had an original fit that ran amok the last one and a half to two years.
We went into elections and you know when you have elections there is a lot of pressure, sometimes you take out the pressure on food… You have to do this and that and you don’t have time to go and exercise and sometimes you eat.
Because you don’t know when you will get the next meal, sometimes you overeat,” the President said during a roundtable interview.
According to Ruto, it was then that he decided to cut some weight.
He insisted that it was a deliberated decision, largely because of the tasks that awaited him as President.
