KeNHA Announces Road Closures, Traffic Disruptions
KeNHA Director General Kung’u Ndung’u said in public notices there will be temporary traffic disruption along the Western Bypass on November 15, 2024.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority wishes to notify the public that a section of Nairobi Western Bypass will experience traffic disruption along the Gitaru bound lanes on Saturday, November 16, 2024, from 6 am to 10 am.
Motorists shall be directed to share the Ruaka-bound lanes for both in-bound and out-bound traffic,” one of the notices said.
Ndung’u said the disruption is to allow for the family-run event by the Anglican Church of Kenya, Mt Kenya South, to take place.
The KeNHA boss advised motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site.
The agency also announced the temporary closure of Meru- Embu Road on November 17, 2024.
Ndung’u said a section of Meru Embu (A9) Road between Muthambi and Nithi Bridge will be closed from 8.30 am to 9.30 am.
“This is to allow for a procession to mark World Day of remembrance of road traffic crash victims from Muthambi DCC grounds to Nithi Bridge,” he said.
Ndung’u said motorists plying the road shall use the alternative routes.
“Motorists from Embu towards Meru will take a right turn at 50 meters before the bridge, pass through Muthambi Vocational Training Centre, and join the main road at Muthambi Centre,” he said.
“Motorists from Meru towards Embu will take a left turn at Muthambi Centre, through Muthambi Vocational Training Centre, and join the main road 50 meters past the bridge.”
The KeNHA boss further announced the temporary closure of the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway between Makupa Bridge and Changamwe Interchange on Sunday, November 17, 2024.
“This is to allow for road construction and drainage works to ensure seamless road connectivity between Makupa Bridge and Changamwe area.”
KeNHA is an autonomous road agency, responsible for the management, development, rehabilitation, and maintenance of international trunk roads linking centers of international importance and crossing international boundaries or terminating at international ports.
It is also responsible for primarily roads linking provincially important centers to each other or two higher-class roads.
