Karua Claims Uhuru Remains To Be My Brother but
Speaking on Citizen TV, Karua said Uhuru remains her brother just like former Prime Minister Raila Odinga is, but she disagrees with the political directions they have taken.
“He (Uhuru Kenyatta) remains my brother and friend just like I say Raila remains my brother and friend, but that political direction, I beg to differ,” she said.
The former Justice Minister, however, said that every person must be allowed to make a choice according to how they see fit.
“You must allow everybody to act according to how they see best.”
Karua warned Uhuru and Raila that if they believed working with President William Ruto would make him different, they were wrong.
She insisted that if this is their motivation, they have misread the President.
“I’m saying if they are informed by a genuine desire imagining that because of joining him Ruto will be any different, I am telling them they are mistaken and they have misread the man,” Karua insisted.
Her remarks come a few weeks after President Ruto and his predecessor Uhuru met at his Ichaweri home in Gatundu.
Days after the meeting, Ruto went on to appoint several persons allied with the former President to key positions in his administration, with at least three of them landing Cabinet positions.
They include former CS Mutahi Kagwe and former Governors William Kabogo and Lee Kinyanjui.
In August, Karua reiterated her stance that, with or without Raila, she strongly remains in the opposition.
“Whether or not our brother Raila goes to AU, and we wish him well, the position doesn’t change. He remains here we still remain a voice, he goes we still play our role. Our being in the opposition is not predicated in the presence or absence of our brother, it is a duty we take up seriously,” Karua said.
