The body of a Moi University graduate who went missing nine days ago was discovered in a thicket in Ongata Rongai, Kajiado County, on Sunday, January 12.

Lydia Tokesi, 29, went missing for more than a week and was last seen alive on January 4 of this year.

Her disfigured body, which showed serious evidence of torture, was discovered in Gataka Forest.

Following a lengthy search by the family that yielded no results, relatives were notified of a body presumed to be their lost kin.

Detectives discovered a disfigured body and invited members of the family who positively identified her garments at the scene of the murder.

Investigations into her disappearance and subsequent murder have begun, and a DNA test is expected to be conducted to determine the identify of the body.

“The state of the body was so bad. You couldn’t really identify it. It was missing some parts. It was found in a thicket,” Daniel Shikoli, the brother to Tokesi, told the press.

“We’re waiting for the DNA tests to know if that body is Lydia’s. After that, we’ll get to know what happened,” he added.

According to the family, the missing person was with her lover on Saturday, January 4, whom she had been dating for more than eight years.

Lydia remained with the suspect until the specified day, when she was reported missing suspiciously.

According to the family, Tokesi took out a bank loan to buy a car for her alleged killer partner, who drove it around Nairobi as a taxi.

The automobile was discovered abandoned near Lydia’s parents’ home, with bloodstains raising concerns about what might have happened.

Investigators have already launched a manhunt for the suspect who has gone into hiding.

As part of the investigation, officers visited the suspect’s home in Ongata Rongai and discovered various exhibits that they hoped would aid in unraveling the circumstances of the murder.

During their search, they discovered a love letter that suggested the two had a poor relationship, which could be the motive for the murder.

The family is now urging the authorities to expedite their investigation and arrest the main suspect.

“We are waiting for the DCI to come out to expedite the process, to let us know, what really happened,” the family appealed.

Investigators have immediately swung into action, examining the crime scene for critical details about the terrible murder that will lead to the arrest of the offenders.
